Mark Patterson

Operating Partner, Banking & Specialty Finance at Corsair Capital

Mark Patterson is an Operating Partner of Corsair based in London. He is a senior boardroom adviser with a banking and legal background and over 35 years of international experience. Mr. Patterson now holds a number of nonexecutive directorships and advisory roles notably at Schroder European Real Estate Investment Trust Plc and Mandarin Consulting Ltd.

Mr. Patterson is a director of Corsair portfolio company Union Bank of Nigeria. He was previously with Standard Chartered Bank based in London where he had been Group Head, Corporate Development, responsible for the development and execution of Standard Chartered’s inorganic growth strategy. Mr. Patterson joined the Bank in early 2004 and led a number of the Bank’s major acquisitions and investments as well as market fundraising exercises to strengthen Standard Chartered’s own balance sheet.

Prior to joining Standard Chartered, Mr. Patterson was a Director and Head of International Corporate Finance at ANZ Investment Bank based in London for 6 years having earlier spent 12 years with Deutsche Bank where he was the Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong office, Head of Corporate Finance for North Asia and also a Director of Morgan Grenfell & Co Ltd in London. Mr. Patterson is a lawyer by training having spent 5 years practising with Slaughter and May in both London and Hong Kong.

Mr. Patterson spent 15 years working in Asia between 1983 and 1997, based in Hong Kong.

Mr. Patterson graduated from Oxford University and is married with three children. He is also a Trustee of 2 charities – Safe Child Thailand and Article 25.
