Richard E. Thornburgh

Senior Advisor at Corsair Capital

Mr. Thornburgh is a Senior Advisor of Corsair and serves as a member of the Investment Committee. He joined Corsair in 2006 and is based in New York. Mr. Thornburgh is a director of Repay Holdings Corporation (NASDAQ: RPAY) a Fund IV investment, and chair of the board of Jackson Hewitt Tax Services Inc., a Fund V investment. He served as the lead director of NewStar Financial (NASDAQ: NEWS), a Fund III company sold in October 2017 and is on the board of CapStar Financial (NASDAQ: CSTR) a Fund III company exited in Q3 2019.

Prior to joining Corsair, Mr. Thornburgh was Executive Vice Chairman of Credit Suisse First Boston (“CSFB”). He has over 40 years of experience in the global banking and financial services sector and has held a number of senior leadership positions at Credit Suisse Group.

Mr. Thornburgh began his investment banking career with The First Boston Corporation, a predecessor firm of CSFB, in 1976. He spent 20 years in the investment banking department specializing in financial institutions. He was the first global head of the Financial Institutions group for CSFB. During the ten-year period ending 2005, he served on the Executive Board of Credit Suisse Group and his executive responsibilities included: Chief Financial and Administrative Officer of CSFB, Chief Financial Officer of Credit Suisse Group, Vice Chairman of the Executive Board of CSFB and Chief Risk Officer of Credit Suisse Group.

At the end of April 2018, Mr. Thornburgh reached the term limit for a director of the board of Credit Suisse Group, where he served as Vice Chairman of the board of Credit Suisse Group, chair of the risk committee, member of its audit and nomination and governance committees. He also chaired the board of Credit Suisse Holdings (USA). He serves on the board of S&P Global, Inc. (NYSE: SPGI), where he is chair of the Financial Policy Committee, member of the Executive and Audit Committees. Due to Mr. Thornburgh’s significant business activities outside of Corsair he has had limited involvement in the day-to-day activities of the Firm.

Mr. Thornburgh holds a B.B.A. cum laude from the University of Cincinnati, a M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School and received an honorary doctorate in Commercial Sciences from the University of Cincinnati in 2009. He is the 2016 recipient of the William Howard Taft Medal, the highest honor granted to an alumnus of the University of Cincinnati.
