Robert Bussell has worked in various roles in the data science and engineering fields since 2011. In 2011, they started as an Associate Development Engineer at the University of California San Diego, where they built data acquisition, processing and analysis pipelines for research projects. In 2016, they moved to the UCSD Center for Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging as a Senior Research and Development Engineer, where they expanded research opportunities by building data pipelines and acquisition methods. In 2019, they joined GNF as a Senior Data Scientist, High Content Imaging. In 2020, they took on two roles, Director of Data Science at PhenoVista Biosciences and Senior Bioinformatics Scientist at Element Biosciences. In 2022, they began working as a Senior Image Scientist at Cortechs.ai, where they are designing, implementing and testing image analysis software, building and evaluating deep learning and machine learning models, and doing data engineering and cloud processing in AWS.
Robert Bussell obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Physics from Carnegie Mellon University from 1992 to 1996. Robert then went on to obtain a Master's degree in Physics from The University of Texas at Austin. Finally, they obtained a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Cornell University from 2000 to 2007.
