Ushan Alahakoon is a seasoned Canola Breeder with extensive experience in commercial hybrid Canola breeding, specializing in variants such as Omega-9 and ProPound, as well as QTL mapping and marker-assisted selection at Corteva Agriscience since November 2017. Prior to this role, Ushan served as a Canola Breeder at Dow AgroSciences, focusing on RR early stage hybrid Canola breeding and trait introgression from April 2013 to November 2017. Ushan's academic background includes a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Saskatchewan and a Master's degree in Agricultural Biology from the University of Peradeniya, where the contribution to research as a Postdoctoral Fellow involved lentil seed coat color mapping and marker-assisted selection. Ushan also gained teaching experience as a Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of Peradeniya from 2005 to 2008.
