Steve Orsini has a diverse and extensive work experience. Steve is currently serving as the President and CEO of the Council of Ontario Universities since September 2020. Steve is also a Steering Committee Member for the Fiscal Federalism Policy Network (FFPN) since March 2020. In 2019, they held multiple roles such as being a Senior Fellow at the C.D. Howe Institute, a Distinguished Fellow at the University of Toronto's Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, and the SVP and Chief of Staff, International at Canopy Growth Corporation. From 2014 to 2019, they served as the Secretary of the Cabinet, Clerk of the Executive Council, and Head of the Ontario Public Service in the Ontario Government. Prior to that, they held various positions in the Ontario Ministry of Finance and Ministries of Revenue and Finance. Steve also worked at the Ontario Hospital Association as the Vice President of Policy and Public Affairs.

Steve Orsini has a Master's Degree in Environmental Studies (Economic Development) from York University, which they obtained in 1986. Prior to that, they earned a Certificate in Public Administration with a focus on Urban and Regional Planning from Ryerson University in 1981. Steve completed their high school education at Michael Power High School in Toronto, Ontario, from 1972 to 1977. Additionally, they have a certification in Public Administration from Ryerson, although the specific dates of completion are not provided. Steve Orsini also attended James Culnan Catholic School and St. Pius X Catholic School in Toronto.
