Michal Sedlacek

Chairman Committee IPCR at Council of the European Union

Michal Sedlacek currently serves as the Chairman of the Committee IPCR at the Council of the European Union, where the focus is on coordinating the EU response to the Ukrainian crisis following the Russian invasion and providing assistance to Ukraine. Prior to this role, Michal Sedlacek was the Ambassador at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Lima from October 2019 to September 2022 and served as Consul General at the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in California from January 2011 to November 2015, managing Czech interests across California and twelve other western states. Additional experience includes serving as Deputy Minister for European Affairs in the Office of the Czech Government and Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Czech Republic. Michal Sedlacek holds an MFA in Arts with a focus on film directing from Columbia University, attended from 1998 to 2003, and has academic ties to Charles University.
