Nicolaj Ting Mortensen

Nicolaj Ting Mortensen is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in European Union governance and fiscal policy. Currently serving as Director in the Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs at the Council of the European Union since February 2016, Nicolaj has held various roles, including Head of Unit for the EU U.K. and Political Administrator for the multi-annual financial framework and international trade in food. Prior experience includes positions such as Head of Sector for Agriculture and Structural Policy at the European Commission and Special Advisor at the Permanent Representation of Cyprus to the EU. Nicolaj's career also encompasses consultancy roles at the Ministry of Finance of Denmark and a budget officer position at the European Commission, alongside earlier work with the Danish Permanent Representation to the EU. Nicolaj holds a Master's degree in Political Science from Aarhus University, obtained between 1988 and 1995.
