Jonathan Panter is a Stanton Nuclear Security Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, a position held since September 2024. Previously, Jonathan served as the Coordinator for the Summer Workshop on the Analysis of Military Operations and Strategy at the Saltzman Institute of War and Peace Studies, Columbia University, from October 2020 to January 2022. Jonathan's military experience includes serving as a Surface Warfare Officer in the US Navy from October 2012 to May 2017, where deployments included operations supporting the US Sixth and Fifth Fleets. Academically, Jonathan is completing a PhD in Political Science at Columbia University, where previous degrees include a Master of Philosophy and a Master of Arts in the same field. Jonathan earned a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Cornell University.
