Wendy E.F. Torrance has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Wendy E.F. has held various positions in different organizations.

Starting in 1999, Torrance worked at Harvard University, where they served as a Lecturer on Social Studies from September 2003 to June 2005. During their tenure, they taught in a selective program on Social Studies and provided guidance for senior theses and participated in senior year thesis defense and oral examinations. From June 1999 to June 2005, they also served as an Assistant Dean of Freshmen, overseeing 535 first-year students in Harvard College. In this role, they supervised resident proctors, non-resident academic advisers, and played a key role in organizing and leading proctor/adviser orientation.

In 2006, Torrance joined the Kauffman Foundation, assuming various roles. From March 2016 to June 2018, they served as the Director of Operations, Entrepreneurship, providing leadership within the department. Subsequently, from June 2018 to October 2022, they held the position of Director, New Program Innovations. In this role, they were responsible for developing and leading new initiatives at the intersection of education, entrepreneurship, talent, and culture. Wendy E.F. also spearheaded the Kauffman Foundation's engagement with other funders of entrepreneurship and managed their summer internship program.

Most recently, as of November 2022, Torrance has joined the Council on Foundations as the Director of Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships. In this position, they are tasked with implementing new strategic initiatives and supporting the Council's partnership work in alignment with their new strategic direction. Wendy E.F. is actively involved in developing and managing cross-cutting strategic projects in service of Council members, as well as serving as a key liaison to existing and new partners in the field and across sectors.

Wendy E.F. Torrance earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Washington. Wendy E.F. then went on to pursue a PhD in Political Science at Harvard University. However, specific start and end dates for their education at both institutions are not provided.
