Brian McLaren, AIA, CAE

Brian McLaren, AIA, CAE has extensive work experience in the architecture and technology industries. Brian is currently serving as the Senior Director of Technology at the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH). Prior to this, they held various roles at The American Institute of Architects (AIA) including Senior Director, Product Strategy, Senior Director, Digital Transformation, and Senior Director, Component Information & Resources. In these roles, they spearheaded initiatives such as the re-platforming of AIA's database and the implementation of a Salesforce CRM system.

Before joining AIA, McLaren co-founded Ware Architecture, an architecture firm focused on sustainable design solutions. During their time there, they led the firm's growth from 2 to over 10 employees. Before that, they worked as a Special Projects Manager at SHW Group, where they utilized their analytical skills. McLaren also has experience in web and business development, having worked at iTradeFair.com as a founding employee.

Early in their career, McLaren gained valuable experience as an Intern Architect at Booziotis Company and as a Project Manager at ExxonMobil, where they coordinated documentation processes and managed meetings for multiple committees.

Overall, McLaren has a strong background in architecture, technology, and project management, with a focus on leveraging digital transformation to improve organizational engagement and efficiency.

Brian McLaren, AIA, CAE pursued their education at Oklahoma State University. From 1991 to 1996, they obtained a Bachelor of Architecture degree. Later, in 1998 and 1999, they pursued an MBA from the same university. McLaren has also obtained several certifications throughout their career. Brian became a Certified Association Executive (CAE) in January 2019 from ASAE: The Center for Association Leadership. In November 2015, they acquired the Certified Scrum Product Owner certification from the Scrum Alliance. In June 2012, they obtained their Architecture License from DCRA. Additionally, in October 2008, they achieved the NCARB certification from the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB).
