Douglas Smith has held the position of Director of Administration for the County of Erie since January 2003, serving as Chief of Staff for County Executive Brenton Davis and overseeing various departments within the executive branch. This role includes supervising Corrections, Human Services, Facilities and Operations, Library, Planning and Community Development, Procurement, Public Defender, Public Health, and Public Safety & Veterans Affairs, while also providing support to County Council. Prior to this, Douglas Smith served as Chief Clerk for Erie County Council, managing a budget of $1.85 million and overseeing four bureaus and 16 employees. Earlier in their career, Douglas Smith worked at WSEE from 1981 to 2003 as Promotions Director, Writer Producer, and Videographer, contributing to commercial production. Douglas Smith holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio & Television Communications from Gannon University, earned between 1977 and 1981.
