Michael Takamura

Michael Takamura is a seasoned forensic psychiatrist currently working at the Forensic Examination Unit of the County of San Diego since September 2010, specializing in criminal and civil forensic evaluations. In addition to clinical practice, Michael operates a private practice focusing on worker's compensation cases and serves as the Clinical Service Director at Aurora Behavioral Health Care, overseeing the adult inpatient services. Michael has extensive experience in conducting medical evaluations and was actively involved in clinical trials at the California Neuropsychopharmacology Research Institute from 2007 to 2018. Michael's leadership roles include serving as the National Chairperson for the Early Career Psychiatrists at the American Psychiatric Association and providing training as a Clinical Instructor at USC Keck School of Medicine. Michael's educational background includes a Medical Doctorate from both the University of California, San Diego, and a Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship from the University of Southern California, alongside a Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience from Harvard University.
