Dr. Michael Hunter obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Chemistry from Millsaps College in 1989. Michael then earned their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from The Medical University of South Carolina in 1993. From 1993 to 1997, they completed an Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Residency at Oregon Health & Science University. Following this, they pursued further specialization by undertaking a Surgical Pathology Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine from 1997 to 1998. Subsequently, they completed a Forensic Pathology Fellowship at the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner's Office in collaboration with the University of Miami from 1999 to 2000. Dr. Hunter obtained certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology from The American Board of Pathology in 2000 and further specialized in Forensic Pathology, receiving certification from the same institution in 2001. In 2015, they also obtained certification as a Peace Officer for the State of California.
