Joy Jacobsen

Joy Jacobsen is an experienced epidemiologist with a robust background in public health. Currently serving as a Senior Epidemiologist at the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department since April 2019, Joy oversees the Epidemiology Unit and the Office of Vital Records. Prior roles include providing epidemiological support during a syphilis outbreak at the County of Sonoma, supervising Zika research efforts at Public Health – Seattle & King County, and conducting data management for HIV-related projects at the Chicago Department of Public Health. With a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Scripps College and a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of Illinois Chicago, Joy has also worked in various research and management capacities, including laboratory management at UC Irvine and data submission roles at Howard Brown Health Center.
