Mauricio Mercado

Mauricio Mercado has extensive work experience in various software engineering roles.

In 2013, they worked as a Senior Software Developer at Selfie.com, where they were responsible for designing and implementing project architecture and utilizing MongoDB and Redis for API implementation. Mauricio also worked as a Senior Software Developer in a freelance capacity during this time, creating an application called Squadrapp.

From 2015 to 2018, Mauricio served as a Senior Software Engineer at Human API. In this role, they designed and deployed multiple microservices, integrated Elasticsearch for search functionality, and implemented metric instrumentation for performance monitoring and user insights.

In 2019, Mauricio worked as a Senior Lead Software Engineer at Navarik before joining TELUS Digital as a Senior Full Stack Developer and later as a Sr Technology Architect. At TELUS Digital, they played a crucial role in enhancing development practices and workflows by creating a Fastify-based Node.js framework.

In 2020, Mauricio became a Senior Lead Engineer at CTO.ai, focusing on designing, maintaining, and creating APIs. Mauricio successfully leveraged the GitHub API to provide developers with DevOps Research and Assessment (DORA) metrics.

As a Software Engineering Consultant at MobileLIVE Inc in 2021, Mauricio guided a client in adopting a microfrontend architecture to improve developer experience.

From 2021 to 2022, they worked as a Senior Software Developer at Diligent, where they optimized performance and reliability by identifying and fixing bugs, improving code quality, and implementing new features.

At Sharecare, Mauricio served as a Senior Software Engineer from 2022 to 2023, primarily focusing on developing a distributed health study application using React, Material-UI, Storybook, and Jest for testing.

Currently, Mauricio holds a Senior Software Engineer Contract position at Coursedog, starting in 2023.

Mauricio Mercado has an educational background in computer software engineering and electronics. Mauricio obtained a Master's Degree in Computer Software Engineering from Universidad de Los Andes, where they studied from 2012 to 2014. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate degree in Electronics at Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana from 2003 to 2007.

In addition to their degrees, Mauricio has obtained several certifications. In 2012, they obtained the "M101: MongoDB for Developers" certification from 10gen. In 2009, they became certified in "Security+" and "Network+" from CompTIA. More recently, in 2019, they obtained certification as an Exam Developer in both "OpenJS Node.js Application Developer" and "OpenJS Node.js Services Developer" from The Linux Foundation.
