Sonja Ebron has had an extensive career in the engineering industry. In 1993, they began as the Managing Director at Solar Power & Light, Inc., where they managed a solar energy training and installation firm. In 1997, they moved to Norfolk State University, where they were the Coordinator of Electronics Engineering, administering a small electrical engineering program. In 1999, they became an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering at Hampton University, where they taught courses in electromagnetics, electric machines and power systems. In 2001, they became the CEO of blackEnergy and in 2017, they became the Cofounder and CEO of Courtroom5.

Sonja Ebron received their PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida in 1992. Prior to that, they received their MS in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University in 1988.
