Margaret Hoang

Margaret Hoang has held a variety of positions in the tech industry. In 2019, they began working at Covenant Eyes as a Product Designer II. In this role, they conducted and analyzed user interviews and improved the Victory app sign-in UI design, resulting in a 40% reduction in duplicate account creation. Margaret also collaborated on the redesign of the iOS Covenant Eyes app onboarding experience. Prior to this role, Hoang was a Software Developer III at Covenant Eyes, where they designed and implemented the "Pay Now" feature in My Account, assisted UX designers in evaluating account infrastructure, and improved developer UX. Margaret was also a Software Developer II at Covenant Eyes.

Before Covenant Eyes, Hoang worked at South Sound 911 from 2014-2019. During this time, they were a Lead Software Developer, where they led a team of 6 developers providing software services for 41 police and fire agencies. Margaret also served as Tier 3 support for mission-critical services and project manager as needed. Additionally, they were a Software Developer at South Sound 911, where they conducted user testing for the Online Reporting website, studied and presented UX topics, and worked with software leads to integrate UX practices into the agile software development process.

In 2019, Hoang also worked as a UX Designer for the Hawai'i Symphony Orchestra, where they conducted a UX-focused website audit, saving the symphony $6,772. The audit included an in-depth content analysis, usability testing, accessibility testing, SEO evaluation, proposed new site map, and 7 UI wireframes.

Finally, Hoang worked as a Workshop Facilitator at the University of Washington Tacoma in 2014. In this role, they organized a weekly Data Structures workshop, which included designing worksheets for each session and guiding students in problem solving and teamwork skills. Margaret also worked with professors to identify areas of focus and improved the workshop format by adding coding exercises.

Hoang also held a Security Intern position at MultiCare Health System in 2014.

Margaret Hoang obtained a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Systems from the University of Washington Tacoma in 2014. In November 2022, they also obtained a certification in Foundations of Humane Technology from the Center for Humane Technology.
