Capathia Jenkins is an accomplished actor and singer, whose love for performing began during her childhood in Brooklyn and years as a student at the prestigious High School of Music and Art. During her third year as a jazz vocal major at Temple University, Capathia was cast as Aretha Franklin in the musical revue “Uptown Saturday Night,” and a career in Broadway and off-Broadway productions began. That career has included parts in “Dreamgirls,” “Ain’t Misbehavin’,” and the European tour of “Bubblin’ Brown Sugar.” Capathia has starred on Broadway in “Newsies,” “Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me,” “Caroline Or Change,” “The Look of Love,” and “The Civil War.” Included in her long list of TV credits are “30 Rock,” “The Sopranos,” “Law & Order SVU,” “The Practice,” “Third Watch,” “Top Five,” and “Musical Chairs.” She can be heard on the film soundtracks of “Chicago,” “Nine,” “Legally Blonde 2,” and on seasons 1 and 2 of “Smash.” She travels the world as a featured soloist for many symphony orchestras. Capathia joined the board of directors of Covenant House International in December 2009.
