Steve Hughes

Steve is a global chartered management accountant with over 15 years’ experience in senior and board level roles within financial services. Most recently he was Chief Executive Officer of Principality Building Society, an organisation he joined in 2011 where he was Group Finance Director and was promoted to CEO in 2017. Prior to this he was Finance Director of Lloyds Banking Group plc’s general insurance business, during which time he worked on the integration of Lloyds TSB plc and HBOS plc. His earlier experience spanned the automotive, retail and consumer goods sectors. Steve has gained broad experience having operated in leadership roles covering technology, change, strategy, operations and finance. He is passionate about mutuality and its role in UK financial services and is committed to running the business in the long-term interest of its members.
