John Hooks has a diverse work experience in the IT industry. John started their career as a LAN Admin at Centrx Inc in 2015, where they implemented virtualized systems and revamped the network infrastructure.

From 2011 to 2016, John worked as a Consultant at JHB Computers, providing IT services for small businesses, including backup solutions, end user support, and real-time monitoring. John also utilized Ansible for automation.

John then joined Curtiss-Wright Corporation as a Senior Linux Systems Engineer/Administrator from 2016 to 2018. During this time, they replaced NIS with Red Hat's Identity Management system, implemented automated joining of RHEL workstations to Active Directory, and fully migrated RHEL 5 infrastructure to RHEL 7.

In 2018, John joined FedEx Services as a Technical Architect, DevSecOps Enablement. John automated processes, developed and maintained automation tools, and ensured compliance using various technologies such as Go, Ansible, Terraform, and Docker.

After that, John worked at BoxBoat Technologies as a Solutions Architect from 2020 to 2022, where they focused on architectural solutions.

In 2022, John joined Synadia as a Software Engineer before transitioning to the role of Senior Software Engineer at Cover Whale later in the same year.

Throughout their career, John has demonstrated proficiency in various technologies and tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, and Prometheus.

John Hooks obtained a Bachelor's degree in Music/Classical Guitar from Grove City College from 2005 to 2009. Prior to that, they completed their high school education at Ford City High School from 1999 to 2005. Additionally, they have achieved certifications including the CKA: Certified Kubernetes Administrator from The Linux Foundation in December 2020, the HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate from HashiCorp in October 2021, and the RHCSA from Red Hat in December 2016.
