Mehdi Khakpour

Mehdi Khakpour currently serves as the Associate Digital Director at COWI, focusing on developing digital solutions. Prior to this role, Mehdi held the position of Lead GIS & Digitalization Specialist at the Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA), where responsibilities included leading environmental data science initiatives. Previous experience includes serving as Chief Engineer at the Norwegian Environment Agency and as a Senior Engineer/GIS Expert at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). Mehdi's academic background consists of a Ph.D. in Computational Geography from NTNU, along with degrees in Earth systems science and Crisis/Emergency/Disaster Management. Throughout a career spanning various roles, Mehdi has demonstrated expertise in GIS, digitalization, and environmental research.
