Sara Mehrabi

Sara Mehrabi has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in the field of hydrogeology and groundwater control. Sara is currently working at COWI as the Director of the Green Fuels & District Energy Portfolio, where they manage and oversees projects in that portfolio. Prior to this, they worked as the Digital Development Director at COWI, where they focused on digital transformation and development initiatives. Sara also held the position of Technical Director, Hydrogeology and Groundwater Control at COWI, where they led projects in the field of hydrogeology and groundwater management. Before joining COWI, Sara worked as a Senior Hydrogeologist/Groundwater Modeller at SMEC, where they specialized in groundwater modeling. Additionally, they served as the Treasurer for the International Association of Hydrogeologists, managing financial responsibilities and reporting. Sara's academic background includes a PhD research position at the University of Technology, Sydney, where they conducted research on the transport of carbon nanotubes in porous media. Sara also worked as a Project Hydrogeologist/Modeller at RPS Group, focusing on groundwater modeling and mining-related projects. Prior to that, they gained experience as a Project Engineer/Hydrogeologist at UNSW Australia Water Research Laboratory and as a Hydrogeologist/Groundwater Modeller at the University of Technology, Sydney. Sara began their career as a Site Engineer at Holoo Kalle.

Sara Mehrabi has a diverse education history. Sara obtained their Bachelor's and Honours degrees in Natural Resources Engineering and Water Engineering from the University of Tehran in 1999-2002. Sara further pursued their education by earning a Master's degree in Groundwater Engineering from the University of Technology Sydney in 2007-2009. In 2011-2014, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Hydrogeology, Groundwater Transport Modelling, and Nanoscience from the same university. In 2014, they obtained two Certificate IV degrees in Leadership and Communication and Project Management from QUT (Queensland University of Technology).

Sara Mehrabi has also engaged in executive education programs, such as Digital Transformation Strategy and Corporate Innovation Ecosystem, offered by MIT Sloan School of Management in 2020. Sara continued their education at Wrexham University from 2021-2023, pursuing an MBA in Organisational Psychology with a focus on Business, Organisational, and Behavioural Psychology. Additionally, they obtained a Project Information Manager (PIM) ISO 19650 certification from BRE Academy in 2021.
