Valerie McClain

Valerie McClain has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies and roles. Valerie is currently working at Cradle Genomics, where they started in 2021. Their roles at Cradle Genomics include being the Director of Cell Biology, a position they started in May 2022, and previously held the positions of Manager, Cell Biology and Senior Scientist.

Their responsibilities included developing custom NGS assays, validating new protocols/instruments, and leading training of new laboratory personnel.

Valerie's educational background includes studying at the University of California as a Masters Student from 2010 to 2014. Valerie also conducted thesis research at Children's Hospital Oakland Research Institute from 2011 to 2012, focusing on developing a DNA capture assay for sequencing of the entire human mitochondrial genome.

Earlier in their career, Valerie gained research experience at the University of Washington, Seattle, where they worked as a Research Assistant and Undergraduate Research Assistant in the Gallagher Laboratory. Valerie also served as a Research Experience for Undergraduates Fellow and Student Laboratory Assistant during their time there. Additionally, they worked as a Student Intern at the Douglas R. Cook Laboratory at the University of California, Davis.
