Bruce Schroffel has worked in healthcare administration for more than 40 years visioning, leading, managing, and developing strategies for large, complex academic healthcare organizations.
Bruce has led UCSF, and Stony Brook, and most recently was CEO of the University of Colorado Hospital. After six years as CEO at UCH, he was the architect of a major merger growing UCH to a five-hospital, $2.5 billion, 15,000-person enterprise, and was named president. In 2014 he retired from UCHealth.
Since 2014 Bruce has consulted in healthcare strategy in the U.S. and China, recruiting executives and coaching physicians and administrators. He has served as CEO for two start-ups and as chairman of the Emily Griffith Foundation, where he remains a board member. In addition, he is on the board of the Mental Health Center of Denver, Project C.U.R.E., Colorado State University System Foundation Board, and Adams County Food Bank. In 2010 he was named The Denver Post’s Business Person of the Year and in 2014 he received the University Medal from the University of Colorado.
Bruce holds an undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley and two graduate degrees from Columbia University. Bruce and his wife Lorrie, a private practice mental health professional, live in Denver. They have two sons with grandchildren who live in London and Golden.
