M. Joe Smith is an experienced educator and artist with a strong background in ceramics. Currently serving as a teacher at Cranbrook Schools since September 1992, M. Joe Smith has contributed to the Mosaic Project, fostering collaboration among students and artists. Prior to this role, M. Joe Smith was self-employed at Smith and Mosley from 1985 to 1992, specializing as a studio artist and potter, and also operated as an artist at Smith and Mosley from 1981 to 1992, focusing on creating and painting white earthenware with various colors and patterns. M. Joe Smith holds a Master of Fine Arts in Ceramics from Cranbrook Academy of Art (1992-1994) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics from Kansas City Art Institute (1987-1990).
