Mark Curphey began their work experience in 1997 as a Consultant at Insight Consulting. Mark then worked as a Consultant at ING Barings in 1998 and as a Consulting Manager at ISS from 1999 to 2000. In 2001, they became an Information Security Director at Charles Schwab until 2004. From 2003 to 2006, they were the VP of Professional Services at Foundstone, which was later acquired by McAfee. Mark joined Microsoft in 2007 as a Product Unit Manager in the Developer Division, where they stayed until 2012. In 2012, they worked briefly at Foundstone again before it was acquired by McAfee. Mark then founded SourceClear in 2013 and served as the CEO until 2019 when it was acquired by Veracode. From 2019 to 2022, they worked as the Co-founder & CTO at Open Raven. In 2022, they co-founded Crash Override.

Mark Curphey completed their Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Brighton from 1993 to 1996. Mark then pursued a Masters degree in Information Security from the Royal Holloway, University of London from 1996 to 1997.
