Matungwa K. Babyegya's work experience begins in 2002 when they served as the Vice President of Finance & Administration at AIESEC Tanzania. They then moved on to various roles at Barclays Bank Tanzania, including Manager of the Loan Processing Centre and Manager of Performance & Analysis - Operations. In 2008, Matungwa joined Standard Chartered Bank as a Human Resources Relationship Manager.

In 2011, Matungwa transitioned to Millicom International Cellular (Tigo), where they held positions such as Recruitment and Selection Manager, HR Manager of Performance and Development, and Deputy Head of HR/Performance and Development.

From 2013 to 2017, Matungwa worked at National Microfinance Bank Plc (NMB) as a Senior HR Manager for Learning and Talent Development, followed by a role as a Senior HR Manager for Performance Management, Talent Management, and Succession Planning.

In 2020, Matungwa served as a Group Human Resources Consultant at ZEK Group International before moving on to i-Learn East Africa, where they worked as a Management Consultant in Human Resources Management.

Currently, Matungwa is the Head of Human Resources - Shared Services at CRDB Bank Plc, overseeing HR Service Excellence, payroll management, HR budget management, and people analytics. They also served as a Management Consultant in Retail HR at the Director of Retail Banking's Office within CRDB Bank Plc.

Matungwa K. Babyegaya attended the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) from 2002 to 2005, where they completed a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) degree with a focus on banking. They then pursued further education at UDSM from 2007 to 2010, earning a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in Human Resources Management.

In addition to their formal education, Matungwa K. Babyegaya obtained several certifications. They received the SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification from SHRM in December 2016. They also completed various online courses from LinkedIn, including certifications in "HR as a Strategic Business Partner" in October 2023, "HR and Digital Transformation" in December 2022, "Strategic Human Resources" in November 2022, and "The Six Morning Habits of High Performers" in September 2020.
