Val Gat is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in data analytics, financial economics, and academic instruction. Currently serving as the Director of Data Analytics at NCUA since June 2018, Val leads a team of economists and data scientists in developing risk identification models for the oversight of over $1.4 trillion in assets. Previously, Val was the Director of Credit Markets, contributing to the creation of regulations for mortgage servicing rights. Val's academic involvement includes teaching a course on the Economics of European Integration at The George Washington University. Prior positions include Financial Economist at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and Financial Analyst at the Federal Reserve Board, where Val analyzed significant banking issues. Val also demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion as the Vice Chairman of the Committee on Diversity & Inclusion, promoting dialogue on cultural change within organizations. Val holds a Master's Degree in Applied Economics from The Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
