LaKeysha C. Arthur is the Resident Principal at Paul Habans Charter School. She is a native of New Orleans and was educated in the Orleans Parish School System. LaKeysha is a founding member of Habans who witnessed and experienced first hand the academic transformation of the school growing from an SPS score of an F to a C.
Previously, LaKeysha served as the 3-5 Director of Curriculum and Instruction from 2017 – 2020. As the 3-5 DCI she provided leadership in the implementation of 3-5 curriculum as well as coaching teachers in classroom management. Under her leadership 3-5 scholars made significant academic growth. LaKeysha also served as the 3-5 Team Lead, taught ELA and science in the grades of 3rd and 4th at Habans. During the 2016-2017 school year, 72% of her ELA scholars passed the LEAP at basic and above.
Prior to joining Habans, LaKeysha spent 13 years working in the Office of Institutional Advancement at Xavier University of Louisiana in the field of fundraising. During her employment at Xavier, LaKeysha held the positions of Alumni Relations Specialist, Annual Fund Manager and Interim Director of Alumni Relations.
LaKeysha is a graduate of Southern University of New Orleans where she received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Master of Science in Management Information Systems. She is also a fellow of the teachNola TNTP Teaching Fellows Program, Building Excellent Schools (BES) Fellowship Program and UnBoundEd Equity Influencer Residency.
