Eric Derfner

Mr. Derfner, a commercial real estate veteran, began his career practicing real estate law (both as a litigator and transactional attorney) and has spent the past 18 years in real estate investment. Prior to joining Crescent Sky, Mr. Derfner co-founded The Juster Group, an opportunistic venture, investing proprietary capital in real estate, operating companies, and sophisticated financial products. Partnering with like-minded family offices, Juster executed transactions in New York, Ft. Worth, Chicago, and the Pacific Northwest. Focused on opportunistic situations and willing to invest anywhere from sponsor equity to senior debt, Juster gravitated towards value-add investments. While at Juster, Mr. Derfner co-founded and launched WorkHouse on 5th Avenue in Manhattan, a co-working/office suites company. Additionally, at Juster, Mr. Derfner led a team of professionals tasked with a $360 million P3 recapitalization (Public-Private Partnership) of a public water and sewer system spanning five townships.

Before launching Juster, Mr. Derfner worked at The Feil Organization, where he retains equity in a majority of the Company assets and serves on its Board of Directors. Feil, one of the largest and most well-respected privately held real estate companies in the country, owns and operates more than 26 million square feet of real estate. As a Vice President, Mr. Derfner was charged with, among other things, operating a four million square foot Class A office portfolio, based predominantly in Manhattan and Boston. Some notable assets Mr. Derfner operated included: The (original) GE building, 570 Lexington, NYC, The Fred F. French Building, 551 Fifth Avenue, NYC, The Look Building, 488 Madison Avenue, NYC, The One Beacon Insurance Building, One Beacon Street, Boston, MA. Additionally, while at Feil, Mr. Derfner was involved in the acquisition and disposition of over $1 billion of real estate.

Active in philanthropy, Mr. Derfner serves on the Board of Directors at Prep for Prep and The New York State Honorary Fire Chiefs Association. In his free time, he enjoys practicing Jiu-Jitsu at Renzo Gracie.

Mr. Derfner received a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Boston University, as well as a Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School. He currently resides with his wife and two sons in Manhattan.
