Sílvia Illa Tuset, PhD

Discovery Scientist at Cresset

Sílvia Illa Tuset, PhD, has extensive experience in computational chemistry and materials science. Sílvia is currently working as a Discovery Scientist at Cresset software and discovery since 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Computational Chemist Consultant and Project Manager as a Freelancer, conducting a study on the interaction of the spike protein of the SARS-COV-2 virus with ambient particles using Molecular Dynamics simulations.

Sílvia also worked as a Research Scientist at Pharmacelera, where they specialized in small molecule and protein docking, structure-based design, and virtual screening. Sílvia worked on various projects and gained a deep understanding of protein-ligand interactions.

Previously, Sílvia was a Computational Chemistry Scientist at Procter & Gamble, where they developed atomistic models of interactions between surfactants and complex biological systems. Sílvia combined simulation work with experimental data to explain macro-scale phenomena.

Sílvia also has experience as a Research Engineer at IQS Barcelona and has completed a PhD in Material Science and Computational Chemistry. During their PhD, they gained expertise in nanostructured drug delivery systems and liposomes.

Additionally, Sílvia has worked as a Research Scientist at the INSTITUT DE CIÈNCIA DE MATERIALS DE BARCELONA (ICMAB-CSIC) and Miquel y Costas group, where they focused on atomistic simulation of amphiphilic molecules and analysis of physical characteristics of materials, respectively.

Sílvia began their career as a Research Scientist at NANOMOL TECHNOLOGIES, where they worked on the characterization of nanosuspensions using supercritical fluid precipitation method. Sílvia also worked as an Assistant at Benseny SA, where they focused on improving the identification system and achieving accreditation.

Overall, Sílvia Illa Tuset, PhD has a diverse background in computational chemistry, materials science, and project management, with a strong focus on molecular simulations and protein-ligand interactions.

Sílvia Illa Tuset, PhD, completed their Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering at IQS Barcelona from 2009 to 2013. Sílvia then pursued a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering at the same institution from 2013 to 2015. Following this, they enrolled at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Material Science from 2015 to 2019.
