Sarah Chesson has a diverse work experience starting from 2003. Sarah began their career as a Teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District, where they taught special education and created differentiated curricula for students with special needs and English as a Second Language learners. Sarah then joined St. Anne's in 2007 as an Assistant Director, managing daily operations and programming for various family-based services.
In 2008, Sarah became an Assistant to the National Director at UnitingWorld, where they project-managed international guests' programs and supported the international volunteer program. Sarah developed systems for efficient organizational management during their time there.
Moving on, Sarah joined St. Anne's again in 2010, this time as an Assistant Director of Family Based Services. Sarah supervised multiple programs and contracts, providing services to high-need families. During their tenure, they received the St. Anne's Visionary Award in 2013.
In 2013, Sarah transitioned to PENCIL, Inc. as a Senior Partnership Manager. Their responsibilities included creating strategic partnerships between NYC public schools and business leaders, training volunteers, and developing collaborative activities for college and career readiness support for low-income high school students.
Most recently, Sarah has been working at Cristo Rey San José Jesuit High School since 2015. Sarah started as a Program Coordinator in the Corporate Work Study Program and has since been promoted to roles such as Assistant Director and Director. Currently, they serve as the Executive Director of the Corporate Work Study Program.
Sarah Chesson received their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Government and Psychology (double major) from William & Mary in 2003. From 2003 to 2005, they pursued their Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Special Education at Loyola Marymount University.
