Neil McGlone has had a varied and extensive career in the film industry. In 2021, they were appointed as Film Programmer for the Cambridge Film Festival. In 2020, they took on the role of Director at the Ipswich Film Theatre. From 2018 to the present, they have been the Company Director of Film Feast UK Ltd, a UK events company specialising in hosting festivals and pop-up screenings that combine food and drink with film. In 2015, they began working at The Riverside as Cinema Manager, Project Manager and Film Advisor & Curator. In this role, they assisted with centenary celebrations, programmed films, organised events, conducted interviews and Q&A's live on stage with visiting directors and guests. In 2014, they became a Freelance Writer for the British Film Institute, contributing articles such as an interview with director Alexander Payne for the January 2014 issue of Sight & Sound. From 2012 to the present, they have worked as a Freelance Researcher for The Criterion Collection and as Curator of The Peter von Bagh Archive. In 2013, they were a Film Advisor for the Nordic Film Festival and in 2010, they were a Film Advisor for Il Cinema Ritrovato.
Neil McGlone attended Farlingaye High School in Woodbridge, Suffolk from 1984 to 1987.
