João Roque

Principal Software Engineer | Iot Developer Advocate at Critical Manufacturing

João Roque has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. João started their career as a Junior Software Developer at Critical Manufacturing in September 2018 and later transitioned to the role of Software Development Engineer. In June 2020, they became a Tech Lead, responsible for leading a team of engineers and overseeing projects from a technical perspective. João's responsibilities also included integrating projects in the SMT area and devising strategies for major feature templating.

In 2022, João joined LetsGetChecked as a Backend Software Engineer until March 2023 when they moved to Critical Manufacturing again. This time, they held the role of Principal Software Engineer and IoT Developer Advocate, focusing on IoT development and advocacy.

Prior to their software engineering roles, João worked as a Junior System Engineer Consultant at Indra from September 2017 to August 2018. Additionally, they have a background in leadership and event management as a founding member and director at NEEEC, an organization of electrical engineering students. João was also involved in the sport of Esgrima, serving as a National Referee for several competitions from 2009 to 2015.

João Roque pursued a Mestrado integrado degree in Engenharia Electrotécnica e Computadores with a major in Automation and a minor in industrial engineering at the Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto from 2012 to 2017. In 2015, they participated in an Erasmus program at the Università di Pisa where they studied Engenharia e Gestão Industrial/Engenharia electrotécnica. Additionally, in the same year, João completed a Curso de italiano A2 at the Consolato Italiano Porto, focusing on the Italian language.
