Craig Cordola

Craig Cordola, FACHE, serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Ascension. In this role Mr. Cordola has overall responsibility for the healthcare and business operations of Ascension in support of the Mission. This includes all of Ascension’s Ministry Markets serving communities in 19 states and Washington, D.C., and Ascension Post-Acute Services. In addition, Mr. Cordola leads Ascension’s national Ambulatory Surgery and Imaging divisions and has responsibility for Ascension subsidiaries Medxcel Facilities Management and The Resource Group, Ascension’s group purchasing organization. He also oversees consumer engagement efforts and leads the Ascension Environmental Impact Office and the ministry’s efforts to achieve net zero carbon emissions and zero waste by 2040.

Mr. Cordola joined Ascension in September 2017 as the Ministry Market Executive for Ascension Texas. He previously served as Senior Vice President of the Memorial Hermann Health System in southeast Texas as President of its Central/West Region. In this role, he also had Executive responsibility for their Academic relationship with The University of Texas Health Science Center – Houston. Prior to serving as a Regional President, he worked in various roles throughout Memorial Hermann including Chief Executive Officer of the Memorial Hermann – Texas Medical Center Campus, Chief Executive Officer of Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital and, prior to that, served as its Assistant Vice President of Operations. Before joining Memorial Hermann he served at Texas Children’s Hospital, the primary pediatric teaching facility for Baylor College of Medicine, as a Director of Operations for Texas Children’s Pediatric Associates.

In addition to his professional and community commitments, Mr. Cordola is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Mr. Cordola is a Doctoral Candidate in Leadership and Learning Organizations at the Peabody College at Vanderbilt University and is active with the Austin Chapter of the Young Presidents’ Organization. He graduated with honors from The University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Psychology and continued his studies at the University of Houston-Clear Lake, where he earned dual degrees with a Master of Healthcare Administration and a Master of Business Administration.
