Joseph Impicciche, JD, MHA, serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Ascension, leading the Ascension Leadership Team to advance the health system’s Mission of providing compassionate, personalized care to all, especially those most in need. He previously served as President and Chief Operating Officer and earlier as Executive Vice President and General Counsel.
As President and CEO of Ascension, Mr. Impicciche has been an advocate on numerous issues including the importance of greater access to care – especially for those who are underserved, gun violence as a public health issue, health equity, promoting racial justice, the need to reduce drug costs, and the use of technology to spur healthcare innovation. He also has represented Ascension at Scottsdale Institute and spoke at The Twenty-Seventh Workshop for Bishops by The National Catholic Bioethics Center. Mr. Impicciche was named one of the Most Influential People in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare in 2019, 2020 and 2021. In 2021 he received the Clarence A. Jackson Distinguished Career Achievement Award from his alma mater, Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
He is a member of the Healthcare Leadership Council and has served on the Boards of numerous organizations. He currently serves on the Board of the Catholic Health Association of the United States, The Catholic University of America, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul National Foundation, and the St. Louis Regional Business Council.
Mr. Impicciche earned a Juris Doctorate from Indiana University School of Law, Indianapolis, and a Master of Healthcare Administration from Indiana University. He received a bachelor’s degree from Wabash College, where he was a Lilly Scholar.
