Matthew Fornero

Matthew Fornero is a Distinguished Software Engineer at Cruise since February 2018, providing technical leadership for the Robotics Platform Software within the AI/Robotics Group. Formerly, Matthew held the position of Principal Software Engineer at Cruise, leading the Embedded Systems group and overseeing firmware development and software integration for various systems. Prior experience includes roles at The MathWorks, where Matthew worked as a Principal Pilot Engineer, focusing on HDL, Embedded Software, and Hardware/Software Co-design in video and image processing, software-defined radio, and high-speed signal processing. Matthew also served as a Manager of Hardware Engineering at A&D Technology, directing a hardware development team and handling high-speed digital PCB and FPGA development. Academic qualifications include a BSE in Computer Engineering and an MSE in Electrical Engineering, both from the University of Michigan.
