Hannah Besso

Hannah Besso is currently a PhD student at the University of Washington, building on a Master's degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Western Washington University. With extensive experience in both academic and practical settings, Hannah has worked as a Ski Patrol member at Crystal Mountain Resort since 2017, where responsibilities included avalanche hazard mitigation, weather data collection, and medical care for guests. Previous roles include serving as a NASA DEVELOP National Program Assistant Fellow and Project Lead, where Hannah developed analytical methods for urban vegetation indices and solar potential assessments. Additionally, experiences with the National Park Service focused on physical science data collection and collaboration on environmental surveys. Hannah's hands-on research skills are further exemplified through various laboratory and field projects, demonstrating a strong foundation in ecological and environmental studies.
