Ashtan Grace Towles is a Senior Project Analyst in the Behavioral Health Division at The Council of State Governments Justice Center since May 2021. Previous experience includes serving as a Human Rights Fellow at Yale Law School, conducting research on the use of force in the U.S., and working as a Program Analyst at the NYC Mayor's Office for Criminal Justice focusing on hate crime prevention. Ashtan has also held roles as a Digital Strategist and Policy Analyst during Mayor Bill de Blasio’s presidential campaign, as well as a Paralegal Assistant and Research Assistant at Yale Law School's Schell Center for International Human Rights. Educational qualifications include a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Yale University, and currently pursuing a PhD in Sociology at Columbia University.
