Location: California

Salary Range: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 dependent on experience and qualifications

Position Description:

The Event Manager/Senior Event Manager is a seasoned event professional within the Event Management department, working both autonomously and with direction as needed, with exceptional organization skills and understanding of various types of events. The ideal candidate will have DMC operational experience and /or a broad range of different types of event experience, show initiative, and have a solutions-oriented attitude. As a CSI employee and team member, it is required to understand the company vision, values and culture, to appreciate supervisors’ guidance, be able to mentor junior staff and to respect and support colleagues. Event Manager/Senior Event Manager to be based in California, working remotely from a home-based office.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Understand event cycles and management functions, including venue management, production coordination, hotel room blocks, vendor management, site inspections, and creative design and implementation

  • Understand and help execute client needs, creating a client/partner relationship

  • Conceptualize and lead strategic client programs, drive planning process and understand event scope

  • “24/7” contact for clients during programs

  • Add vision and creativity to client programs

  • Serve as team lead on large-scale programs and bring leadership and guidance to team members

  • Participate in discovery of new vendors

  • Manage budget of assigned events

  • Cultivate upselling opportunities

  • Take active participation in site visits with Sales team and clients

  • Develop and maintain communications in a cooperative and professional manner with all levels of staff, vendors, industry partners and clients

  • Self-educate or partake in CSI training opportunities

  • Mentor and guide junior event managers in professional development and job performance

  • Attend all scheduled Operations Meetings and Company Meetings, chair meetings in absence of Director of Event Management

  • Communicate to team and management of event and operational success and advise on best practices

  • Report directly to Director of Event Management

  • Manage site selection, RFP creation and management, site inspections, and post-event reviews

  • Oversee team project execution, performance, and profitability

  • Keep Salesforce DB up to date with financials and relevant information on clients and opportunities

  • Abide by Policies and procedures in the Employee Manual

  • Adhere all accounting deadlines

  • Other tasks as assigned or as the position evolves

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years professional event management experience
  • Strong background in program management and execution
  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred or equivalent experiences
  • Problem-solving and management through stressful situations
  • Project management, timelines, and task management
  • Registration and communications best practices (experience with event registration platforms, including Cvent)
  • Facilities management, audio-visual, room layouts and design
  • Production, staging, and on-site execution
  • Menu planning and design
  • Vendor sourcing and management
  • Contracting, negotiations, and compliance
  • Risk assessment and management (emergency planning)
  • Event budgeting and financials
  • Evaluations, reporting and analysis
  • Leadership and strong interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding written and oral communications skills
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Power Point, Word and cloud-sharing programs
  • Understanding of social media in event settings
  • Time Commitment: full time; travel will be included; long days and some weekends are expected
  • Professional designations are preferred: CMP, DMCP, CSEP, etc.
