Shiming Liu is a plant breeder focused on developing improved varieties for the Australian cotton industry, recognized as a leader in yield global achievements. Shiming held the position of Principal Research Scientist at CSIRO from 2007 to 2003, where they developed enhanced cotton varieties and improved breeding practices through emerging technologies. Prior to this, Shiming served as a Post Doctoral Fellow working on seedless table grape varieties and as a Research Scientist with the Victorian Department of Environment and Primary Industries, developing new pear varieties. Shiming earned a PhD in Agriculture from the University of Sydney and a Master of Agricultural Science from Zhejiang University.
