Jorge Varela Barreras

Jorge Varela Barreras is an accomplished researcher and expert in battery management and electric vehicles, currently serving as an Honorary Research Fellow at Imperial College London since March 2023 and an EV and battery expert at CTAG since March 2021. Varela Barreras holds the position of Maria Zambrano International Talent Attraction Fellow at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya from October 2022. Previous roles include Senior Researcher in Battery Modelling at Imperial College London (January 2019 - October 2022), Postdoctoral Researcher in Battery Management at the University of Oxford (June 2016 - January 2019), and Visiting Lecturer in "Electric Vehicles" at the University of Sfax (September 2016 - January 2017). Varela Barreras completed a PhD in Battery Management Systems and holds an MSc in Energy Engineering from Aalborg University, as well as an Engineer's degree in Industrial Engineering from Universidade de Vigo.
