Zach Vauter has extensive work experience in various roles related to research engineering, electronic warfare, and naval operations. Zach is currently working as a Senior Research Engineer at CUBRC since November 2019. Prior to this, from May 2017 to November 2019, they served as an Electronic Warfare Officer at C3F. Zach also has significant experience in the US Navy, where they worked as a Naval Flight Officer from August 2001 to November 2019. During their tenure in the Navy, they served in different positions, such as Deputy Information Operations Warfare Officer / Electronic Warfare Officer at Carrier Strike Group NINE from April 2015 to February 2017, and as an Electronic Warfare Officer at Carrier Strike Group ONE from December 2009 to January 2012. Before their naval service, they worked as a Mentor/Instructor at Tactical Training Group, Pacific (TTGP) from March 2006 to December 2009, and as a Battalion Electronic Warfare Officer for CJSOTF at Joint Composite Crew Squadron, One (JCCS-1) from June 2006 to April 2007. Zach also gained experience in the User Engagement/Outreach team at the National Reconnaissance Office, Special Communications Office from January 2012 to February 2015.
Zach Vauter obtained their Bachelor's degree in Sociology from The Ohio State University, where they attended from 1994 to 1999. After a professional gap, they furthered their education by pursuing a Master of Public Administration (MPA) in Public Policy Analysis at the University of Maryland, from 2013 to 2014.
