Namon Freeman has a diverse work experience in various organizations. In 2011, they worked as a Design Professional in Historic Preservation at the DC Office of Planning. In 2012, they worked as a Plans Examiner at Mecklenburg County until 2015. During this time, they were also a Consultant at the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) from 2015 to 2016. In 2013, they worked as a Graduate Assistant in the Urban Planning Program at NYU Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. In 2014, they served as a Design Professional in the Urban Planning and Design Branch at UN-Habitat. In 2015, they joined the NYC Department of City Planning as a Special Assistant to the Executive Director until 2017, and later became the Planning and Development Pipeline Manager from 2017 to 2018. From 2018 to 2020, they worked as a Senior Specialist, State and Local Policy at Grounded Solutions Network. Namon also worked as a Contributing Writer at CultureBanx in 2019. In 2020, they became an Adjunct Professor at The City College of New York and joined Bloomberg Associates as part of the Sustainability - Housing Affordability team.

Namon Freeman's education history includes a Master of Urban Planning degree with a focus on International Development from NYU Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. Namon also completed a double major at Hampton University, earning a Master of Architecture (M.Arch) degree and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish (B.A). During their time at Hampton University, they participated in a study abroad program in Barcelona, Spain, with a concentration in Architecture at IES Abroad.

In addition to their formal education, Namon Freeman has obtained several certifications. Namon received a Professional Certificate in Municipal Finance from the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago in May 2023. In April 2022, they completed the certification course on Real Estate Data to Investment Decisions in US Multifamily & Single Family Built to Rent Housing from Harvard University Graduate School of Design. In 2019, they were recognized as a REAP NYC Fellow by PROJECT REAP. Furthermore, they obtained a Building Inspector Level III certification from the North Carolina Department of Insurance in July 2012.
