Ricardo Correa, MD, Es. D, FACP, FACE, FAPCR, CMQ is the program director of Endocrinology, diabetes and Metabolism for the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix. Also he is member of the NBME board and member of the USMLE composite committee.

He completed his Medical School and Education Master at University of Panama. Before going on training, he completed a research fellowship in Epidemiology and Tropical disease at Gorgas Memorial Institute for Health Studies in Panama city. He completed his internal medicine residency at Jackson Memorial hospital-University of Miami program as part of the William Harrington Program and during his residency he was instructor of Medicine for the University of Miami. In 2012, he was honored with the Alpha Omega Alpha from the University of Miami.

He was trained in Evidence-based medicine at McMaster University in Canada and in Editorial process and Open Journal system by LATINDEX. He is co-director of the Panamanian Cochrane Center and Evidence Based Medicine advocate.

Dr. Correa has been involved in organized medicine since medical school. He has been president of the Latin American Medical Student Association (FELSOCEM), scientific committee chair and actual vice speaker for the American medical association resident and fellow section, chair of the council of resident for the American College of Physician Florida Chapter, National Secretary of the Council of Resident of the National Hispanic Medical Association, Regional Vice President of the Committee of Intern and Residents, Medical Education Officer of the Junior Network Developer of the World Medical Association, among others.

Dr. Correa has been involved in multiple academic and educational activities including article Consultant, Interpretation of the Medical Literature Project, National Board of Medical Examiners, International Committee member of the Committee on publications ethics (COPE), MORE, McMaster rater and evaluator of evidence based-Medicine articles, Dynamed reviewer, Deputy Editor of International Archives of Medicine, Editorial board of the International Journal of Case Report and Imaging, Editorial Board of Internet Medical Publishing and Editorial Board as advisor of International Journal of Medical Students. Also peer reviewer for the Panamerican Journal of Public Health (PAHO journal), Journal of Translational Medicine, Journal of General Internal Medicine (JGIM). He was the Fellow-in-training board of director for the AACE during 2014-2015 period. Now a days he is the chair of the young physician subcommittee of AACE.

In 2012, he received the Gary F. Izzo scholarship award from the ACP Florida Chapter and The North America Menopause Society/Pfizer Medical Resident and Fellow Reporter Award. In 2013, he received the Eric Reiss Internal Medicine Award from the University of Miami and the GOLD DOC award for Humanistic doctor.

He is board certified in Internal Medicine and author of the book title “Case report: basics and publication”. He is interest in neuroendocrinology and endocrinology and immunology

He is member of multiple social organizations and loved to spend time with his family (wife Carolina and son Matthew) and to play the alto saxophone.
