Jason Newton

Jason Newton is the current General Counsel at Curi. Jason was previously an attorney and partner at Yates, McLamb & Weyher, LLP from October 1999 to November 2013. Jason has over 14 years of experience with 25+ lawyer prominent North Carolina boutique civil defense litigation firm in civil courts from suit filing through verdict, with significant experience with focus groups and multi-week trials in civil court. The cases they have worked on have primarily involved multi-million dollar exposure. Jason has defended healthcare providers/practices and institutions, as well as businesses and manufacturers in litigation, before licensing boards, in CMS/EMTALA proceedings, in False Claims Act proceedings and in employment disputes. Jason has also provided consulting on peer review processes, independent contractor agreements, electronic recordkeeping, HIPAA, and social media/online ratings issues. Their special interests include electronic discovery, witness preparation, and defending the damages aspects of catastrophic injury cases. Their witness preparation work has included preparing client for testimony given in a nationally-televised murder trial broadcast on “Court TV.” In addition, their products liability work has involved defending a Silicon Valley medical device manufacturer and product used in a construction project in the Netherlands. Jason has also represented plaintiffs in a select number of catastrophic injury cases.

Jason Newton attended Wake Forest University School of Law and Mercer University - Walter F. George School of Law, where they earned their J.D. Jason also holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Political Science. Jason Newton is also certified by the Association of Corporate Counsel in the In-House Counsel Certified Designation.
