Matthew Betzenhauser

Matthew Betzenhauser has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Matthew began their career as a Research Associate at Biogen, where they provided research support to various departments. Matthew then moved on to the University of Rochester Medical Center, where they held roles as a Technical Associate, Graduate Student Researcher, and Postdoctoral Research Associate. During this time, they focused on studying the role of calcium leak from the sarcoplasmic reticulum.

Following their time at the University of Rochester, Betzenhauser joined Columbia University Medical Center as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, where they continued their work on calcium leak and received an F32 individual NRSA award from the NIH.

Betzenhauser then transitioned to the Masonic Medical Research Laboratory, where they held roles as a Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Scientist, Assistant Director of Research, and Acting Director of Research. Their responsibilities included developing and implementing research plans, securing funding, and collaborating with various labs around the world.

After their time at the Masonic Medical Research Laboratory, Betzenhauser joined Curia (formerly AMRI), initially as a Senior Research Scientist I and then progressed to Senior Research Scientist II and III. This role involved leading the Cell-Based Assay and Technology team, developing innovative assays, and utilizing automation and screening tools.

In 2022, Betzenhauser became the Chief Operating Officer at iQ Genetix, a molecular diagnostics company, where they integrated business functions to improve patient care.

Currently, Betzenhauser holds the position of Director of Business Development at Curia, where they utilize their leadership and scientific skills to contribute to the company's success.

Matthew Betzenhauser earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Boston University in 1996. Matthew then went on to complete a PhD in Pharmacology at the University of Rochester from 2003 to 2008.
