Rachel Thorson Hernández has a diverse work experience in the fields of language education, content creation, and translation.

From 2014 to present, Rachel has been working at Curiosity Media as the Director of Content and previously as the Senior Digital Content Editor, Digital Content Editor, and Digital Content Creator. In these roles, they have developed and executed content strategies, managed international teams, edited and standardized content, and contributed to online learning programs.

Rachel also worked as a Consultant at the Center for Applied Linguistics from 2014 to 2021, where they rated and created items for proficiency tests.

As the owner of Thornández Language Services from 2005 to 2020, Rachel offered translation services, proofreading, editing, and ESOL classes.

From 2013 to 2020, Rachel worked at Georgetown University as a Research/Teaching Assistant, where they assisted in teaching language courses, edited academic materials, and reviewed curricula.

In 2016, Rachel briefly worked at Educational Testing Service (ETS) as a TOEFL Reading Comprehension Passage Finder.

From 2011 to 2013, Rachel was a Professor at Tecnológico de Monterrey, where they designed courses, taught classes, and wrote test items for TOEFL practice tests.

From 2007 to 2013, Rachel was a Teacher/Teacher Trainer at PTC Professional Testing and Training Center, where they taught various English language courses and trained new teachers.

Rachel has also worked as a Private Tutor, Teacher at Let's Talk English School, and Teacher at Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro, where they taught English, TOEFL workshops, and specialized courses in linguistics.

Throughout their career, Rachel has demonstrated a strong background in language education, content creation, and translation, making their a valuable asset in any language-focused role they take on.

Rachel Thorson Hernández received a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Linguistics from Georgetown University, where they attended from 2013 to 2020. Prior to that, they earned a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Linguistics from Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro, which they attended from 2009 to 2011. Rachel completed their undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia, receiving a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Spanish and French Literature. Rachel has also obtained additional certifications, including an ATA Certification for Translation from Spanish into English from the American Translators Association in December 2017 and a Cambridge Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) from the University of Cambridge in December 2004.
