Nadiezda Fernandez Oropeza, PhD has a wealth of experience in the field of science. Nadiezda began their career in 2004 as a STEM Tutor at West Texas A&M University. In 2007, they were an NSF-REU Student at Texas A&M University in the Chemistry Department. From 2008 to 2019, they were a Research Assistant and PhD student at the University of New Mexico, where they studied the effects of heavy-hydrogen water and heavy-oxygen water on the motor protein Kinesin. Nadiezda also performed the preparation, imaging, and quantification of motility assays analyzing the gliding speed of microtubules on kinesin-1 coated surfaces in different water environments. Finally, since 2019, they have been a Field Application Scientist at Curiox Biosystems.
Nadiezda Fernandez Oropeza, PhD obtained their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Physics and Mathematics with a minor in Chemistry from West Texas A&M University between 2004 and 2008. Nadiezda then went on to earn their Master of Science (M.S.) in Biophysics from The University of New Mexico between 2008 and 2011. In 2012, they began their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biomedical/Medical Engineering at the University of New Mexico School of Engineering and completed it in 2017. In 2013, they obtained a certification in Flow Cytormetry from the 36th Annual Course in Flow Cytometry.
