Lorene Essex

Lorene Essex is an accomplished educational leader with extensive experience in school administration and human resources management. Currently serving as a PD Specialist at Curriculum Associates since May 2017, Lorene simultaneously holds the position of Deputy Superintendent of Schools at Jackson Public School Systems, overseeing a district of 29,000 students and 5,000 employees. Responsibilities include leading the transition to Common Core State Standards, facilitating corrective action plans, and supporting the Superintendent in daily operations and leadership in various district functions. Previous roles include Deputy Superintendent at Fayette County Public Schools, where Lorene improved teacher qualifications, and Director of Human Resources for the City of Memphis, managing a significant budget and numerous employee initiatives. Lorene holds multiple advanced degrees, including a Doctor of Education in Educational Instructional Leadership from the University of Alabama.
